Friends of Mianus River Park

The Friends of Mianus River Park make improvements to the Mianus River Park and rely on volunteers.  Its a great opportunity to meet people that are as concerned about the maintenance and management of the park.  The Mianus River Park is the municipally owned park and State owned park that straddles the Greenwich - Stamford border.  It is the most heavily used park in the Mianus River Watershed and of particular concern to MRWC.  The recreation needs to be properly managed to adequately protect the river and water quality.  For more information go the Friends website:  http://www.friendsofmianusriverpark.org

The Friends have worked with the many organizations to develop a management plans for the Mianus River Park. To view the management plan for the Mianus River Park visit their website.

The parking lot at the Mianus River Park on Merriebrook Lane is a problem for erosion of sediment into the river.  The City of Stamford has proposed a comprehesive plan to improve the parking lot with the design of a low impact development or green infrastructure design to collect and treat stormwater before it is discharged to the Mianus River.
